West Ham would be landing a bargain with potential £34.8m deal for Barcelona’s Marc Casado
West Ham United should do everything they can to land the signature of Marc Casado from Barcelona this summer.
According to a report from TuttoMercatoWeb, West Ham hold an interest in signing Casado this summer, but they aren’t the only ones.
Tottenham are also said to be keen, whilst Atletico Madrid also are claimed to be monitoring his situation at Camp Nou.
However, the big stumbling block to a potential Hammers deal is the reported interest from Saudi Arabia, where it’s claimed that the PIF fund is ready to put a bid of around €40million euros/£34.8m pounds on the table.
West Ham have a big summer transfer window in prospect regardless of what division they’re playing in next season, but if it’s the Premier League again, then Casado should be near the top of their shopping list.

How well has Marc Casado played for Barcelona this season?
West Ham have a long-held interest in Casado, with the central midfielder having been touted to the Hammers since the summer of 2022.
However, no such move has ever materialised, as the 22-year-old has now broken into the first-team picture at Camp Nou over the last two seasons.
| Casado’s 25-26 La Liga stats | Result |
| Touches per game | 47.1 |
| Pass accuracy | 91% |
| Balls recovered per game | 1.9 |
| Aerial duels won | 55% |
| Ground duels won | 50% |
A product of Barcelona’s fabled academy system, Casado enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in 2024-25, providing six assists and a goal from 36 total appearances for Barcelona.
This season has seen him play 30 times in all competitions so far, but he’s only been able to register one assist.
However, his nine La Liga starts in 2025-26 are a considerable decrease to his 20 league starts last season, and that’s been down to a combination of a shift in tactics from Hansi Flick, as well as increased competition in midfield.
That shouldn’t put West Ham off from securing a deal for him though, and if anything, it should spur them on further to land what could be a real bargain deal for the two-cap Spanish international.
As per Sofascore, Casado has recorded a pass success rate of 91 per cent in La Liga this season, with a whopping 94 per cent accuracy rate on passes inside his own half, as well as an 89 per cent rate in the opposition half.
He’s also recovered 1.9 balls per game, made zero errors leading to a single opposition shot or goal, as well as winning 51 per cent of his total duels.
That’s all been done from an average of just 46 minutes per league game this term, and so had he been a regular 90-minute player, those numbers would likely only be even better.
Last season meanwhile, he also recorded pass success rates of 90 per cent overall and 94 per cent inside his own half, recovered 3.9 balls per game and won 58 per cent of his ground duels, and that was from an average of 71 minutes per game.
Casado could be ideal Mateus Fernandes replacement
It goes without saying that any deal for Casado will only be able to be secured if West Ham remain in the Premier League this season.
However, even if they do, they’re also sure to face a summer of significant transfer interest in their own star central midfielder, Mateus Fernandes.
The 21-year-old has been superb this season, and will no doubt have admirers at many top clubs across European football.
So, bringing in Casado could be a highly shrewd replacement for him, as they share a similar profile, and looks every bit of a player who could really take off in his career if he finds a team that gives him more minutes.
