West Ham United will be worried after what Callum Marshall did for Northern Ireland

West Ham United will be worried after Callum Marshall failed to score in yet another game.

The 19-year-old failed to make an impact before being taken off in the 67th minute in Northern Ireland’s 0-0 draw with Belarus on Saturday (12 October).

Starting alongside Jamie Reid up front, the striker had a chance to fire his team to victory but instead turned out to be one of the poorest performers on the pitch.

This will be a concern for the Irons as Marshall has not found the back of the net since scoring in loan club Huddersfield Town’s 1-0 win against Shrewsbury in August.

West Ham United gem Callum Marshall has not scored since August

During the 67 minutes he was on the pitch, Marshall attempted two shots of which one was on target and the other was blocked, as per FotMob.

The first is classed as a big chance missed, with Belarus goalkeeper Fedor Lapoukhov making the save.

More worryingly, the teenager lost all eight of his duels in the game and failed to complete any of his two dribbles.

Marshall committing three fouls and not winning a single set-piece for his side sums up his performance, which the Northern Irish media did not have much to write about.

It was not all bad for the Huddersfield loanee, though, as he completed 12 of his 18 passes, with two of them leading to chances.

He was also involved in defence, making four defensive contributions of which there was a clearance and a ball recovery each.

Nevertheless, Saturday’s game showed that Marshall is not good enough to play regularly for West Ham’s first team yet.
