West Ham player ratings vs QPR: Jarrod Bowen stinks as Crysencio Summerville steals the show
West Ham secured an extra time FA Cup win against QPR on Sunday.
QPR travelled to face West Ham at the London Stadium, with a view to earning a place in the fourth round of the competition.
Bizarrely, Nuno named a back-five against QPR, but was fast to change things when Konstantinos Mavropanos went off.
Crysencio Summerville and Richard Kone’s goals saw the tie levelled at 1-1 until the full-time whistle before Taty Castellanos netted the winner in extra time.
With the Hammers and Nuno avoiding a cupset in E20, West Ham Zone now rates each player’s performance out of 10.
Crysencio Summerville rare bright spark for West Ham
There is little positive to say about the Irons and their performance against the R’s, but Summerville’s goal certainly made a difference.
Summerville has struggled for West Ham at times this season, but was able to show his quality in flashes at the London Stadium.
There was quality in his strike to open the scoring, and he nearly grabbed a second with just under 15 minutes to go in East London.
His four completed dribbles and five passes into the final third did make a difference in attacking areas, but his consistency remains a concern.
The Dutchman lost four duels and had two efforts blocked from hugely promising positions, something which isn’t ideal in such a close-fought clash.
Jarrod Bowen struggled vs QPR
There were some moments where both Bowen and Castellanos looked like they could cause problems for the R’s, but they didn’t for the most part.
Castellanos struggled on his debut against Forest and did so at times against QPR, with shots from range becoming his only real route to goal until he grabbed a late winner.
The winter signing had just one shot on target in extra, but it flew very centrally and was easily saved, with two other efforts being blocked.
Bowen wasn’t any better on the day, and at least his new teammate found the back of the net in extra time.
The skipper didn’t contribute a single defensive action, but that didn’t benefit his attacking work with just one shot across the 90, which was easily blocked.
A poor day at the office for the captain as his frustrating run of form continues in claret and blue.
