West Ham fans won’t believe what Mason Terry has done for Braintree Town

Mason Terry has thrived since leaving West Ham on loan to join Braintree Town.

The 21-year-old keeper has never made a first-team appearance for the Hammers, but has featured on two senior loan deals away from the London Stadium.

He spent last season at Hornchurch, where he made 45 appearances before making a switch to Braintree for the current campaign.

Terry has already featured 29 times for the National League side and has been involved in a crazy moment as he scored a late equaliser against Truro City in the National League Cup.

His scrappy strike sparked wild scenes and has gone on to make way for some other superb performances that West Ham fans will surely love to see.

Watching a goalkeeper find the net is something that not many fans will ever get to see, but that won’t mean much if they don’t keep the ball out of the other net.

Peter Schmiechel scored a Premier League goal for Aston Villa, but is hardly famed for his days at Villa Park due to his worsening performances in between the sticks.

That isn’t the case for Terry, whose performances have only improved since finding the net against Truro in late January.

The Hammers loanee has been simply superb in recent clashes against Solihull Moors, Sutton United and Eastleigh.

As showcased by Sofascore, he has picked up hugely impressive match ratings while making a total of 26 saves in just three matches.

He has also maintained an average of 9.16 rating in these fixtures, although Braintree only secured one win from those outings.

Two draws have been picked up by The Iron, adding two points to their season’s tally that probably wouldn’t have been possible without Terry.

West Ham have recognised Terry’s excellence

There will be a feeling around the London Stadium that these performances have to be taken with a pinch of salt due to the division.

The National League obviously isn’t the highest standard compared to an EFL division or the Premier League, but you can only beat what’s in front of you.

That hasn’t been lost on West Ham as they posted on Monday to celebrate Terry’s recent performances, saying: “Mason Terry in fine form on loan at Braintree.”

This was accompanied by a graphic detailing his four consecutive Man of the Match awards at Braintree, something that started with his goal against Truro.

The Irons may have a new keeper for the future on their hands, especially if Terry continues to hit the heights he is right now.
