Supercomputer predicts West Ham to miss out on 25-year first in Premier League clash vs Liverpool

West Ham are aiming to secure an unlikely win when they face Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.

Although West Ham dropped crucial points in the 0-0 draw with Bournemouth at the London Stadium last Saturday, there are plenty of promising signs that they can avoid relegation.

The Hammers are two points adrift of 17th-placed Nottingham Forest, and they are incredibly close to escaping the drop zone after a promising run of form.

They’ll need to beat the Reds for the first time since 2021 if that is to happen on Saturday, and Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will certainly have their work cut out for them.

Supercomputer predicts Liverpool as heavy favourites vs West Ham

The Reds have won their last two away matches in the top flight, although they haven’t exactly been invincible at Anfield this season.

Having dropped points in six of their 13 home games so far, Liverpool could be vulnerable, and the Hammers will definitely look to hurt them on the counter-attack.

However, according to Opta‘s supercomputer, West Ham are set to lose once again under Nuno.

West Ham have won just one of their last 52 away league games against Liverpool, beating them 3-0 in August 2015 under Slaven Bilic.

In fact, the Hammers have lost 26 of their 29 Premier League away games against the previous season’s champions, with their only victory coming at Man United in December 2001.

It’s clear that it looks very unlikely that they will break this 25-year streak, especially given Nuno’s woeful record versus the Merseyside outfit.

Nuno’s record vs Liverpool is incredibly poor

West Ham have won 11 points from their last six Premier League games, as many as they had from their previous 18.

While that’s clearly a good sign, Nuno has struggled to get the best out of his teams when facing Liverpool.

The Portuguese head coach has lost more Premier League games against Liverpool than any other opponent (eight).

His only top-flight win against the Reds came at Anfield last season, winning 1-0 with Nottingham Forest in September 2024.

Additionally, Liverpool have lost just one of their last 19 Premier League games against West Ham, winning seven of the last eight since a 3-2 away loss in November 2021.

It’s clear that West Ham will have to be at their best if they want to have any chance of getting a positive result, and Nuno will certainly be desperate to improve on his record against Liverpool.
