Nuno Espirito Santo set for Christmas misery at West Ham as worrying stats emerge before Man City
West Ham’s trip to Manchester City on Saturday could leave them in a terrible position as the Christmas schedule approaches.
Nuno Espirito Santo has a huge job on his hands at the London Stadium, and despite improving performances, the table still doesn’t make for good reading.
West Ham are embroiled in a relegation battle under Nuno, and they currently sit in 18th place with three points separating them and Leeds in 17th.
Following West Ham’s 3-2 loss to Aston Villa on Sunday, they are winless in five matches, and that has coincided with Nottingham Forest and Leeds picking up important points.
To make matters worse, a defeat to Man City would leave them in the drop zone on Christmas Day.

Stats show West Ham will be in relegation zone over Christmas
With their record against Man City being abysmal in recent years, it’s no shock that Jamie Carragher predicts West Ham to lose again.
Should the Hammers lose, it would condemn them to a stark reality in the top flight.
Manchester City have lost none of their last 46 Premier League home games against sides starting the day in the relegation zone (W42 D4), since a 2-1 loss to Tottenham in November 2008.
They’ve won each of the last 14 by an aggregate score of 43-7, and if West Ham fail to win, they are guaranteed to be in the relegation zone at Christmas.
| Matches played | 16 |
| Wins | 3 |
| Draws | 4 |
| Losses | 9 |
It will be the fifth time that the Hammers have been in the bottom three at Christmas in the Premier League, but they’ve avoided relegation on the two previous occasions they weren’t bottom (18th in 2006-07, 19th in 2009-10).
Man City have won 12 of their last 13 Premier League home matches, and the chances of winning at the Etihad are certainly slim.

West Ham’s relegation form should give David Sullivan a massive wake-up call
David Sullivan is under intense pressure from West Ham fans, and the recruitment over the last decade simply hasn’t been good enough.
However, the January transfer window represents a huge opportunity for the Hammers to add some much-needed quality to their starting lineup.
With Nuno yet to have a transfer market in charge in E20, it’s up to Sullivan to back his new manager at all costs.
However, recent evidence suggests that even if Nuno is backed, the players signed in January might not be good enough to get West Ham out of this mess.
If the chairman fails to support Nuno in the right way, then West Ham’s 14-year stay in the Premier League will probably come to an end.
