Jarrod Bowen front and centre as West Ham could achieve 92-year first vs Manchester United

Jarrod Bowen has been a standout performer for West Ham this season.

This has been an incredibly poor season for the Hammers, but Bowen has been phenomenal for West Ham, and it’s safe to say that they would have no hope of staying in the Premier League without their captain.

Although he didn’t score at Turf Moor, West Ham’s 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday now leaves them only three points behind 17th-placed Nottingham Forest.

Up next for West Ham is a huge match at the London Stadium against Manchester United on Tuesday, and they could apply a lot of pressure on Forest with a victory.

Michael Carrick’s side have won their last four games, and although it will prove to be an incredibly tough test, Bowen has a brilliant record against Man United.

Jarrod Bowen could lead West Ham to incredible achievement vs Man United

West Ham did the double over Man United last season, and drew 1-1 at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture this season.

Only once have they avoided defeat in both league meetings with the Red Devils in consecutive campaigns, doing so in 1932-33 and 1933-34 – so a 92-year first is possible this week.

A win for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men would see them match this 92-year record, and it would be a huge achievement for the Portuguese head coach, who is finally getting the best out of his players.

According to Sofascore, Bowen has recorded 59 shots in the top flight this season, which is 98.3 per cent higher than all of the right wingers in the division.

Bowen has scored three goals in his last five Premier League games against Man United, and could be on course to break an impressive record.

No Hammers player has scored more against the Red Devils in the competition than the England international.

It’s a remarkable feat against a side that has generally been far better than the Hammers throughout the history of the Premier League.

However, the Red Devils haven’t kept a clean sheet away from home in the top flight all season, and Bowen will certainly fancy his chances in E20.

West Ham boast impressive record vs Man United in recent years

The captain is certainly on course to excel on Tuesday, especially given how the Hammers have performed against Man United in recent meetings.

West Ham have won each of their last three league matches against the Red Devils at the London Stadium.

The last time they had a longer run was between 1974 and 1977 (four wins).

Man United have actually lost four of their last six Premier League games against West Ham, more than they had in their previous 28.

It’s clear that the stats are clearly on Nuno’s side, and a win would not only see them match a number of records, but it would be a huge step forward in their bid to avoid relegation.
