Edson Alvarez clearly haunted by West Ham United past after what he did
Edson Alvarez is clearly haunted by his recent West Ham United past after what he did for Mexico against Honduras on Saturday.
The 27-year-old played the full 90 minutes as Mexico succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to the side ranked 77th in FIFA rankings in the CONCACAF Nations League quarter-finals this morning [16 November].
Mexico hopes to turn things around when the two teams lock horns again in the second leg at home on Wednesday [20 November], but Alvarez seems troubled by his sending-off against Nottingham Forest on 2 November.

Alvarez was given his marching orders after picking up two yellow cards in the space of eight minutes as the Hammers lost 3-0 to Forest in the league earlier this month, receiving his second red card of the season.
Having been severely criticised for his recklessness on the pitch, the midfielder appeared to take a much more cautious approach when he returned to action for Mexico on Saturday.
According to FotMob, Alvarez did not attempt a single tackle against Honduras [0 per cent] and as a result, did not commit a foul. In contrast, he committed three fouls in just 45 minutes against Forest in his last appearance.

However, he might have taken the cautiousness too seriously as he did not register a single defensive action apart from four recoveries.
Alvarez won only three of his eight ground duels [38 per cent], but won the only aerial duel he engaged in.
The former Ajax man was, nevertheless, heavily involved for his team, registering 78 touches and completing 54 of his 62 passes [87 per cent], albeit with little impact.
