Crysencio Summerville hits new low at West Ham as abysmal stats emerge in Fulham loss
Crysencio Summerville continued to underwhelm in West Ham’s 1-0 defeat to Fulham on Saturday.
Signing for £25million plus add-ons from Leeds United in August 2024, Summerville made the move to West Ham with the aim of taking them to another level under Julen Lopetegui.
However, Summerville has failed to find his feet in E20, although he has been offered several chances by Nuno Espirito Santo to prove his worth.
Raul Jimenez’s late winner condemned the Hammers to another defeat at home, and despite creating several chances, West Ham‘s attacking players failed to display any cutting edge.
As for Summerville, he clearly left his shooting boots at home as he produced another dreadful display.

Crysencio Summerville fails to hit the target against Fulham
Since Nuno was appointed, Summerville has featured regularly on the left wing and showed glimpses of promise in certain matches.
El Hadji Malick Diouf’s athleticism helped him in the early parts of the season, but with the marauding left-back now at AFCON, the onus is now on the Dutchman to provide all of West Ham’s attacking threat down that side.
However, after another ineffective performance at the London Stadium, Summerville was taken off after 56 minutes for Callum Wilson.
According to FotMob, the 24-year-old failed to hit the target from any of his two shots.
| Stat | Summerville |
| Mins played | 56 |
| Touches | 30 |
| Shots | 2 |
| Chances created | 1 |
| Ground duels won | 25% |
The Dutch winger has only registered four goal contributions in 35 appearances for the Hammers, and must go down as one of the most underwhelming signings in the club’s recent history.
He has only created six chances in the entirety of the Premier League season, and has failed to influence matches despite the pace and trickery he possesses.

Nuno has huge attacking dilemma at West Ham
West Ham’s attacking play is a mess, and Nuno has tried many different combinations of players, but has failed to find a winning formula.
Callum Wilson hit a purple patch of form before being relegated to the bench, while Lucas Paqueta has been played in advanced positions where he has looked out of his depth.
Jarrod Bowen is nowhere near his best, and the midfielders aren’t linking up with the frontmen on a consistent basis.
Nuno’s best bet is to revert to the style of play West Ham played under David Moyes, with Jarrod Bowen playing off Wilson and developing a close partnership with his striker.
As for the left flank, Summerville is clearly the most talented player who is a natural on that side.
The problem Nuno faces is that he can’t trust the Dutch winger, and West Ham have no suitable players who could take his place in the team.
Without attacking reinforcements in the January transfer window, the Hammers will undoubtedly be relegated from the top flight.
