Brighton win a certainty for West Ham if this lucky omen is anything to go by
West Ham are back in action on Sunday when they take on Brighton in the Premier League.
Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side have little time to prepare for another away match, although they’ll be buoyed by Thursday’s 1-1 draw with Man United.
West Ham are fighting in the relegation battle, and they’ll need to be at their best against a Brighton side that is pushing for European qualification this season.
The Hammers have only won once away from home this season, although they should be hopeful ahead of Sunday’s clash, as they’ve performed particularly well on the last day of the week when on the road.

West Ham enjoy playing away matches on a Sunday
West Ham lost 3-2 to Brighton in their last meeting, and the result typified the poor record the Hammers have against Sunday’s opponents, winning just one of their previous 16 encounters.
However, they have developed a brilliant away record when travelling to opposition teams on a Sunday.
West Ham have won each of their last three Premier League away games played on a Sunday, as many as they had in their previous 27.
West Ham’s record vs Brighton since 2017-18:
- Wins: 1
- Draws: 8
- Losses: 7
West Ham’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest, which came when Nuno was the opposing manager, was the last time this happened.
The last two occasions came in victories over Man United and Ipswich at the end of last season.
Despite their torrid record against Fabian Hurzeler’s side, this positive run could give the players motivation to extend their winning streak.
It’s well-documented that West Ham struggle against Brighton, and Nuno certainly has a mixed record against them.
How has Nuno Espirito Santo faired against Brighton?
Nuno has won just two of his nine Premier League games against Brighton (D5 L2).
However, his most recent clash with the Seagulls ended in his joint-biggest win as a manager, defeating Brighton 7-0 in February with Nottingham Forest.
Nuno had tactically outclassed Hurzeler 10 months ago, and there is no reason to suggest that he can’t produce another fantastic result that conceded four goals to Aston Villa in midweek.
Despite the fact that the head-to-head record with Brighton is poor, the Portuguese manager will feel confident of securing West Ham’s fourth consecutive league win on a Sunday.
