West Ham United: Manchester City set to make £70m plus player offer for Declan Rice
Manchester City are set to table a £70million plus player bid for West Ham United captain Declan Rice, according to Claret and Hugh.
It’s believed the midfielder is on Pep Guardiola’s shortlist and that he is preparing an opening bid which will include Kalvin Phillips moving to the London Stadium (Claret and Hugh, 13 May).
It’s understood the City boss is unhappy with the Hammers’ £120million valuation of the 24-year-old midfielder. Arsenal and Chelsea also have a long-standing interest in the England international.
Good offer
If Phillips moves the other way, this isn’t a terrible offer for the Hammers to consider. The West Ham captain is so vital to David Moyes’ side but will sadly be on his way this summer. He’s destined to play in the Champions League and the Hammers’ struggles during the 2022/23 season means an exit is now extremely likely.
There are a number of interested parties, so there’s a good chance that West Ham will acquire somewhere near Rice’s value, but ensuring he is replaced is absolutely essential. Phillips appears to be the most suitable replacement for the 24-year-old.

He was excellent for Leeds during his time at Elland Road and has been hampered by injury and lack of game time at The Etihad. However, there’s certainly an opportunity for the 27-year-old to get his career back on track with a move away.
This is definitely one to keep an eye on if the rumours are to be believed.
