West Ham United have enquiries in for 10 players as Conor Gallagher bid rejected
West Ham United have made similar enquiries to that presented to Chelsea for Conor Gallagher for around 10 players, according to ExWHUEmployee.
The Irons submitted a proposal believed to be in the region of £40m for the England international on 24 July, which has since been rejected by Chelsea, but the Irons have taken a similar approach with a number of different targets.
David Moyes has been desperately trying to plug the hole left after Declan Rice’s departure left them looking rather light in midfield, with the Hammers credited with an interest in James Ward-Prowse, Scott McTominay and Gallagher just in the last 24 hours.
Taking to Twitter having been asked whether the interest in Gallagher was true by one of their 145k followers, the former West Ham employee wrote: “Yes there is truth although I think the initial enquiry has now been rejected. We have similar “enquiries” in for about ten players. (I’ve been saying this would happen all window).”
One name likely crossed off the list in recent days will be Fulham’s Joao Plahinha, who appeared to suffer a dislocated shoulder in the Cottagers’ pre-season win over Brentford. The Irons were big fans of the Portuguese midfielder, and he is one target that they have made similar enquiries for this summer.
Worryingly scattergun
Now clubs having multiple targets on their radar at once isn’t unusual, there are so many factors that could cause a team to need to turn to place B, C or even D during a transfer window. But it’s not often a Premier League team will be forced to reach plan J.
There is a sense of slight desperation beginning to linger over the London Stadium, a feeling that somebody, somewhere must be brought into the fray, no matter who they are, what they cost and whether they fit.

Now there is an argument that to fill the boots of Rice in East London, Moyes may need more than one addition, with his ability to affect the game both in a defensive and attacking sense the reason the Gunners had to fork out over £100m for his services.
It could well be that West Ham needs to buy Gallagher and Denis Zakaria, or McTominay and Ward-Prowse but what will be making the fans sweat will be the fact for all the countless links and enquiries, nothing appears to be getting any closer to being confirmed.
The Hammers get their season underway on 12 August and only have three pre-season fixtures left to play before they face Bournemouth in the Premier League and as of now, it is impossible to know who will feature for them in the middle of the park.
Whoever they decide is their man for this transfer window, they need to hurry up and sign.
