Technical Prowess
Summerville is a dynamic attacking talent, who is quickly becoming a key figure for West Ham. His exceptional dribbling ability and quick acceleration make him a constant threat in one-on-one situations. His technical skill allows him to operate effectively in tight spaces and unlock stubborn defences.
Direct Threat
Operating predominantly as an inverted winger on the left flank, Summerville loves to cut inside onto his stronger right foot. His direct approach keeps opposition defenders on the back foot, creating shooting opportunities for himself and chances for his team-mates.
Tactical Role
In West Ham’s attacking structure, Summerville is a crucial creative and goal-scoring outlet. His versatility also allows him to drift centrally, acting as an advanced playmaker. His ability to link play and provide defensive work rate makes him a valuable component of the Hammers’ system.
Crysencio Summerville: Is he the man to save West Ham United?
There was much expectation on the shoulders of Crysencio Summerville when he arrived at West Ham United from Leeds United in the summer of 2024 in a deal worth a reported £25million plus add-ons. His first campaign never really ignited, though, and he registered just a solitary Premier League goal. This campaign was a slow burner too, but since the turn of the year he has been absolutely crucial to Nuno Espirito Santo and the Hammers’ bid to both survive in the top flight and win the FA Cup. The Dutchman had seven goals in 11 appearances before an untimely calf injury sustained against Brentford in the FA Cup fifth round saw his progress curtailed.
When will Crysencio Summerville return for West Ham United?
Summerville’s injury saw him miss the 1-1 draw against Manchester City and the 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa, but the timing of the international break came at a good time for him personally and for the Hammers. There is confidence that he could even return for the FA Cup quarter-final against former club Leeds on Sunday. Having him available would be huge for Nuno and West Ham supporters, as we head into a crucial juncture in both the battle for survival and quest for FA Cup glory. Certainly, you feel the chances of both could be greatly improved if Summerville is fit and firing.
