Winner emerges in race to sign West Ham United-linked forward Antonio Nusa as Fabrizio Romano drops transfer news

West Ham United supporters will be happy with their January transfer window so far, with Kalvin Phillips arriving on loan.

The England international has moved to the London Stadium on a temporary deal from Manchester City, and will undoubtedly boost the club’s midfield.

But the Hammers have also seemingly been keen on bringing a new attacker to East London this month, with journalist Dean Jones reporting for SportsLens (19 January) that they are interested in Club Brugge forward Antonio Nusa.

The 18-year-old has been impressing in Belgium this season, boasting four goals and three assists in all competitions.

His playing style has drawn comparisons to Brazilian ace Neymar, with Nusa’s former Stabaek teammate Mats Solheim saying: “I can see similarities to Neymar in Nusa’s movements and in the way he uses the ball,” as per GOAL (15 June 2022).

But his recent form has now forced West Ham’s Premier League rivals Brentford to take immediate action, with Fabrizio Romano reporting on Sunday (28 January) that the Bees have reached an agreement to sign the teenager.

The journalist noted that the deal is worth €30million-plus (£25.6million), with the youngster set to stay at Brugge until the end of the season, before linking up with Brentford in the summer.

It will come as a blow to West Ham and indeed another London-based club in the form of Tottenham, with the North London club having been pushing hard to sign Nusa this month [GIVEMESPORT, 26 January].

Brentford seemingly have another gem on their hands, and their done deal may just come back to haunt the Hammers and Tottenham in the years to come.

In other West Ham news, bids have been made for a South American Hammers player, with a last-gasp January exit on the cards.
