WHZ View: West Ham boost as Lukasz Fabianski confirms fresh contract talks
West Ham United keeper Lukasz Fabianski has confirmed that talks are underway over a new contract at the London Stadium.
The Polish stopper is in the final year of his current deal and has reiterated his desire to stick around with the Irons.
Michail Antonio and Fabian Balbuena are also another two players with expiring contracts next year, with a busy period ahead in terms of extensions.
Speaking to Weszlo, Fabianski has confirmed that he is happy to stay with West Ham as his family is content and settled in London.
“Talks are underway,” he said. “I’d like to stay in West Ham.
“Extend the contract because I feel good here. I have to look at my son because he started school and I would not like to put him in a situation where he would have to change schools every year. Here he finds himself well, here the climate is favourable to him.”
This is a huge boost for West Ham and David Moyes.
Moyes admitted recently that the Irons are concentrating on football at the moment, and that new contracts won’t be handed out until 2021.
It is good that the wheels have been set in motion though, as it puts an end to all doubt that any of our out-of-contract players could find new clubs.
Fabianski has faced 17 shots in his past three Premier League games alone but has only conceded four goals – making 13 saves according to WyScout. That is a great percentage, with the Pole keeping his side in games numerous times.
Only Edouard Mendy and Hugo Lloris have kept more clean sheets than Fabianski, as he continues to shine among the Premier League’s best this season.
Moyes will be delighted to be keeping his stopper – Antonio and Balbuena up next.
