WHZ View: Two changes for West Ham – Predicted XI to face Man United

David Moyes takes his West Ham side to Old Trafford on Sunday for the Premier League clash with Manchester United.

The Hammers will be looking for payback after losing the reverse fixture 3-1. It’s one of only three times West Ham have been defeated at the London Stadium this season.

Moyes will see this as a great opportunity to pick up some points. The Red Devils are set to be without seven first-team players, including two of the goalscorers the last time the sides met.

With that in mind, West Ham Zone have predicted Moyes to name the following XI to take on Manchester United.

West Ham

In goal will be our number one, Lukasz Fabianski. He returned to the side in the 2-0 victory over Leeds on Monday having missed the trip to Manchester City. He played fantastic in the FA Cup clash in January at Old Trafford and will need to perform well again if we’re to take anything home.

With Jesse Lingard being ineligible to play, we assume Moyes will revert to a 5-3-2 formation with wing-backs. This would mean Vladimir Coufal will play on the right and Ben Johnson on the left.

The back three will likely consist of Issa Diop, Craig Dawson and Aaron Cresswell. Each of the three are crucial to our set plays, attacking and defending. Cresswell has eight league assists, whilst Dawson and Diop have both scored in recent weeks.

We expect Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek to anchor the centre of midfield. These two have developed one of the best partnerships in the top-flight this season. Rice will wear the armband, whilst Soucek will look to add to his eight goals in the Premier League this campaign.

Jarrod Bowen could be in line for his first start in three weeks. The winger has been a used substitute against City and Leeds. Moyes likes to rotate the front-men, so he could come back into the side.

It is likely that Pablo Fornals will keep his place in the team. He’s been excellent over the past few weeks, in what’s been a good consistent run of appearances for him.

Michail Antonio should lead the line for the Hammers. He missed the clash at the London Stadium, as well as the FA Cup tie in January. He’ll equal Soucek’s eight league goals if he scores on Sunday, becoming joint-top scorer.
