WHZ View: Three things to look out for as West Ham face Arsenal
West Ham will look to get back to winning ways this weekend when they host Arsenal at the London Stadium. on Sunday,
David Moyes’ side put in a below-par performance last week when they were defeated 1-0 by Manchester United in underwhelming fashion, failing to register an attempt on target.
Arsenal haven’t lost in their last three league games. They defeated Spurs and Leicester in the past two weeks after going a goal down in both games. Mikel Arteta has installed some belief in the squad after a shaky start to the season.
The two sides are separated by five places in the table, with the Hammers seven points better off as it stands. The Gunners won the reverse fixture 2-1 at the Emirates back in September, so will be confident they can get a result this weekend.
With that in mind, West Ham Zone have highlighted three things to look out for tin the clash at the London Stadium.
Fantastic Fabianski
The big Pole is playing extremely well this season. He’s kept 11 clean sheets this season, including three in his last six matches.
He made just 32 Premier League appearances in seven seasons with Sunday’s visitors and will be out to prove a point again this weekend. He’s now kept a whopping 72 top-flight clean sheets.
Fabianski has made 17 saves in his last five appearances. He’ll likely be tested against Arsenal, they’ve scored in eight of their last ten matches.
Benrahma and Lingard link-up
Jesse Lingard was sorely missed last weekend at Old Trafford. He’s come in and taken us to another level with his excellent performances.
One man who’s benefitted from Lingard is Said Benrahma. The due have started three games together, Aston Villa, Fulham and Leeds. In these games they’ve played neat one-touch football and attacked well together, creating chances and winning penalties.
Moyes has to attack Arsenal this weekend after his defensive set-up against United. These two playing together is guaranteed goals, we are yet to lose a game that they start together.
Odegaard the dangerman
The Gunners have proven to be a bit of a bogey team for us in recent years. We’ve kept just three clean sheets in the last 22 meetings between the two sides.
Most likely to bag has to be Martin Odegaard. After going four games without a shot, the Norwegian bagged his first Arsenal goal last week in the Europa League.
He made it two in two, netting last weekend against Spurs in the North London Derby. He’ll be feeling confident at the club after a quiet start, we’ll have to keep an eye on him this Sunday.
