West Ham’s three potential replacements for Graham Potter as sack threat looms
Graham Potter continues to come under pressure at West Ham after a run of three defeats in four Premier League games.
The Hammers’ 3-0 loss to Tottenham was especially embarrassing as supporters left the London Stadium in their masses after conceding a third.
West Ham owner David Sullivan has been asked to step down by supporters after a poor transfer window.
Sullivan faces a battle to get fans back on his side, but sacking Potter would be a good start.

Michael Carrick could be a strong option for West Ham
Former West Ham midfielder Michael Carrick could replace Potter should the Hammers choose to make a switch.
The former Middlesbrough boss has been linked with the role, despite being sacked by Boro in June.
Carrick guided them to a fourth-placed finish in his first season in charge, but they drifted off in the subsequent seasons.
- Carrick made 154 appearances for the Hammers between 1999 and 2004
- He managed a win percentage of 50% at Boro
Following eighth-place and tenth-place finishes in the North East, Middlesbrough replaced him with Rob Edwards in the summer.
Although his time ended prematurely in the Championship, Carrick’s style of play suits the top-flight more.

West Ham could revisit Paulo Fonseca
Following David Moyes’ dismissal in 2024, West Ham held talks with Paulo Fonseca to become their new manager.
The Hammers elected to appoint Julen Lopetegui instead, but could again approach the Portuguese manager about the role.
The former Roma manager has had a turbulent time with Lyon, with uncertainty over whether they would take part in the Europa League this season.
In March, Fonseca was handed a nine-month touchline ban in Ligue One, and could prefer being back on the touchline at the London Stadium.

Jose Mourinho could make sensational return to England
Jose Mourinho is available after he was sacked by Fenerbahce.
Mourinho has been touted as an option for West Ham should they dismiss Potter in what would be a blockbuster move.
Mourinho’s achievements as a manager:
- First manager to win all three of UEFA’s major seasonal competitions (Champions League, Europa League/UEFA Cup, and the Europa Conference League)
- At Inter Milan in 2010, he won the treble (Serie A, Coppa Italia, UEFA Champions League)
The Portuguese manager is a serial winner everywhere he goes, and could bring glory back to East London after a dismal two years.
