West Ham United to be on red alert as Brentford make Ivan Toney decision

West Ham will be on red alert to secure Ivan Toney’s signature this summer after already missing out on Georges Mikautadze.

Julen Lopetegui is clearly on the search for a new striker addition at the London Stadium, with only Michail Antonio and Danny Ings currently available to the new manager.

According to The Sun [18 July], Toney is one of those targets and Brentford are ready to slash his price to the region of £50million this summer.

While there is still a lot of the summer transfer window left, the Hammers may want to think about hurrying their move up for Toney after the latest transfer update emerging from France.

West Ham United must strike Ivan Toney deal after latest transfer blow

The Irons were said to have made an offer for Metz’s Mikautadze [Le 10 Sport], but the Georgian forward has already put pen to paper on a deal with Lyon.

He prompted many European clubs to take notice with his performances at Euro 2024, notching three goals and one assist before Georgia were knocked out of the competition by Spain.

He looked to be going somewhat under the radar until that point, despite having scored 13 Ligue 1 goals in 20 appearances, but West Ham’s lack of European football was always going to be an issue at some point.

Toney, who has been dubbed “exceptional” by Gary Lineker, looks to be the next best option, especially given his experience in the Premier League and slashed price tag.

With 72 goals in 141 appearances for the Bees, he could certainly fix the current striker issues at the London Stadium this summer.

In other West Ham news, Alexander Sorloth could be handed a chance at redemption with a new transfer.
