West Ham United should prioritise signing Maxwel Cornet after relegation release clause revealed

West Ham should step up their interest in Burnley’s Maxwel Cornet after the Ivorian’s relegation release clause was revealed.

The Telegraph revealed on Thursday [26 May] that the winger has a £17.5million release clause and West Ham and Everton are keen on the winger’s signature.

David Moyes is keen to overhaul his squad this summer after narrowly missing out on Europa League qualification.

The winger has nine goals and two assists in 28 Premier League games for the Clarets and will be an excellent addition for any Moyes’ side.

The Ivorian would be an ideal fit for West Ham with his ability to drift in centrally from wide areas, much like Jarrod Bowen.

The 25-year-old is at an age where he is heading into the prime of his career and at a cut-price, he would be a terrific piece of business for Moyes to complete.

Cornet can beat a man, deliver a good cross and has a knack for scoring goals.

Moyes has been fairly persistent with his 4-2-3-1 formation this season but if he was to recruit the Ivorian it would give him the option to play a three at the back formation more often, with the 25-year-old able to fill in a variety of wide positions.

The Hammers boss will need to move quickly to get a deal over the line as the Ivorian will be in high demand.

He is a versatile option that will provide a different dynamic to the Hammers’ attack.

Moyes should be all over this.
