West Ham United sent ‘highest level’ January transfer warning, Nayef Aguerd and Michail Antonio in danger

West Ham had a very busy summer transfer window, beginning with the sale of star man and club captain Declan Rice.

Fortunately the Hammers did a superb job in replacing the England ace, with James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez arriving at the London Stadium.

Joining them were Mohammed Kudus and Konstantinos Mavropanos, with several players heading in the opposite direction.

But two players that the club managed to hold onto amid interest in their services were Michail Antonio and Nayef Aguerd.

As per The Athletic (27 August), the striker failed to agree terms with three Saudi Arabian clubs who wanted to sign him. Al-Ittihad meanwhile attempted to bring Aguerd to Saudi Arabia with an offer worth 10 times his wage in East London [Goal, 4 September].

Moyes and West Ham supporters will be delighted the duo did not head that direction earlier this year, but the boss could have another battle on his hands in the upcoming transfer window.

That is because of the ambitions of Saudi Pro League (SPL) transfer chief Michael Emenalo, who spoke of January transfers during an interview with the official SPL website on Wednesday (15 November), saying: “Now, whatever additional improvement that we need to do for any club, with time on our hands and preparation, we believe will be additions of the highest level.”

Aguerd and Antonio may just be targeted once again, along with a whole host of other Premier League talents, in what is a fierce warning to Moyes and his fellow top flight managers.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are eyeing a former Premier League striker who is “free to leave” his current club, with a January deal on the cards.
