West Ham United: Nigel Reo-Coker simply wrong over David Moyes comments
Nigel Reo-Coker believes David Moyes should have the luxury of deciding whether or not he stays on as West Ham manager.
The former United midfielder added that he believes the time is right for Moyes to bow out, but it is ultimately the Scotsman’s decision to make.
Moyes was offered a new contract around the turn of the year, but he recently suggested he will wait until the summer before deciding what to do.
David Moyes contract latest at West Ham
“I think it’s time for a change,” Reo-Coker, who spent three years at Upton Park, said on Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily [21 April, 34m 30s].
“What they should do is give David Moyes the luxury to make that decision himself.”
Giving Moyes that option – as the club have done – is all well and good on the face of it. However, it just causes more and more uncertainty.
Had Moyes put pen to paper a few months back, a big section of the fanbase would have been upset but at least this talk would have gone away.
Now, after exiting the Europa League and continuing to struggle in terms of Premier League results, the situation has surely reached an endpoint.
West Ham must make David Moyes decision ASAP
Reo-Coker is the latest in a long list of former pros and pundits to suggest West Ham have no right to just pull the trigger on Moyes.
Others have warned United that the grass is not always greener, meanwhile, with nobody of note just saying it straight.

West Ham gave Moyes the choice of extending his stay and he has deliberated so long that time is now up.
If the club has any sense, they will thank Moyes greatly for his services and begin the process of bringing in a replacement as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, allowing Moyes to spend another month weighing up what is best is simply not an option for the Irons anymore.
