West Ham United must secure deal for Azzedine Ounahi after Fabrizio Romano shares update

West Ham should look to sign Morocco midfielder Azzedine Ounahi in the January window after his impressive performance in the World Cup.

90min reported on 14 December that a host of Premier League clubs including Leicester City, Newcastle, Southampton, Wolves along with the Hammers have been keeping tabs on the 22-year-old midfielder.

Fabrizio Romano shared on Caughtoffside (15 December) that as many as 8-9 clubs are keeping tabs on the player after an “excellent” World Cup.

The Guardian journalist suggests that it’s too early to say what will happen, but clubs have been in touch with the player’s agents trying to understand his situation.

“Many clubs are keeping tabs on Azzedine Ounahi as well after an excellent World Cup,” wrote Romano for Caughtoffside.

“It’s actually around 8-9 clubs around the world. Too early to say what’s going to happen, these are just calls to agents to understand about conditions of the potential deal.”

Morocco stunned everyone after making history in the World Cup in Qatar. They became the first African team to reach the semi-finals, and despite a 2-0 defeat against France in the semi-final, they have won hearts.

West Ham

Ounahi has been one of the standout performers in the Qatar World Cup and the Hammers must take him on board. He looks a cracking talent who has got pace and fantastic dribbling skills.

He is an attacking central midfielder who can also play on the right, but his ability to hold on to the ball and his decision-making is simply brilliant.

Capable of playing both short and long passes, he is easy on the eye.

The Hammers need depth in midfield, irrespective of what happens to Declan Rice or Tomas Soucek over the summer, and Ounahi could be a fantastic option.
