West Ham United must make move for Jacob Bruun Larsen amid £6.75m update

West Ham United have already undergone a plethora of changes across the board this summer with the Hammers looking to better their ninth-paced finish from last term.

Max Kilman is arguably the strongest signing of the three made by Julen Lopetegui so far and will no doubt have a positive impact on the Hammers’ defensive line.

Despite finishing in the top half of the table, the London-based club actually had the fourth-worst defence in the Premier League last term, behind only the three relegated teams.

Changes have also been made in attack with the Hammers’ first arrival of the summer being Luis Guilherme.

Last term both Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus carried the Hammers at times with both having stellar seasons.

The addition of Guilherme will no doubt help alleviate some pressure, but, extra additions could still be welcomed.

Someone like Jacob Bruun Larsen would be an ideal signing for Lopetegui, especially since Hoffenheim are only asking for a £6.75 million fee [Kicker, 8 July].

Why Jacob Bruun Larsen would be an ideal signing for West Ham United

As shown with the transfers of Kilman and Wes Foderingham, it’s evident that experience is a key factor in Lopetegui’s recruitment this summer.

Granted, Bruun Larsen is just 25 years old but he spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan with Burnley and was arguably one of the club’s best players.

The Denmark international played a total of 36 games across all competitions and managed to score seven goals.

In addition to his finishing ability, the fact that he can play across the front three would also be of use to the Hammers as it would enable them to deploy him wherever he’s needed.

He could even be used as their main focal point of attack should one or both of Michail Antonio or Danny Ings depart [Sunday People, 7 July, page 59] the London Stadium this summer.

Although the attacker’s addition may not excite some fans, for the minimal fee of £6.75m, it feels as if it’s a no-brainer.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers must surely go for Alexander Sorloth this summer after recent transfer update.
