West Ham United must hand Vladimir Coufal new contract now as Sky Sports statistic emerges, David Moyes needs him

West Ham United are enduring somewhat of a mini-crisis, with the Hammers losing their last three Premier League games.

But supporters should remain upbeat given the long list of talented players that manager David Moyes has at his disposal.

That includes the likes of star winger Jarrod Bowen, midfield ace Lucas Paqueta and summer signing Mohammed Kudus.

But perhaps one Hammers player that has gone under the radar at the London Stadium is right-back Vladimir Coufal.

The latest figures from Sky Sports (9 November) certainly suggest that, with the Czech Republic international covering a distance of 122.53km in the current Premier League campaign so far.

The total places him in a very impressive fifth place among all players in the competition, with Manchester United ace Bruno Fernandes leading the way with 126.24km covered.

The West Ham ace sits ahead of the likes of Chelsea man Conor Gallagher (122.43km), Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes (121.92km) and Liverpool ace Dominik Szoboszlai (121.35km). Making the feat more impressive is the fact that Hammers man Coufal is the only defender among the top 10.

Worryingly, however, the 31-year-old’s contract at the East London club will expire at the end of the season. Having played all 11 league games so far, as well as featuring twice in the Europa League and once in the League Cup, Moyes should be keen to extend his deal.

The man in the dugout clearly favours Coufal over Thilo Kehrer, while the future of Ben Johnson remains up in the air.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers will be impacted if a potential Premier League rule change is implemented, with a vote impending.
