West Ham United may already have their next superstar in ‘top quality’ striker Divin Mubama
West Ham have been linked to a number of targets to fill their striker position this summer, but the club may have a ready-made star already in their ranks in Divin Mubama.
West Ham’s search for a striker this summer has become clear, following reported interest in Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun, especially as Gianluca Scamacca could be set to leave the club, but Mubama should be an option the Hammers look to explore.
Mubama has already made five senior appearances for West Ham at just 18 years old, and scored his first senior goal in a 4-0 Europa Conference League win against AEK Larnaca after a deflection saw his headed effort against FCSB listed an own goal by Joyskim Dawa.
Mubama was given the Man of the Match award following a brilliant performance and goal against Tottenham on 18 July, and West Ham defender Kurt Zouma was quick to lump praise on the 18-year-old, stating via the club website: “He deserves it. I feel as though we have seen him play a few games for us, he scored in the Conference League and he’s a top player with top quality.”
He could definitely play a part
Standing at 6ft tall, Mubama is physically dominant even against his senior opponents, able to hold the ball up and bring teammates into the game, while also being able to run the channels and create more options in space.
He was a part of the West Ham that won the 2023 FA Youth Cup, scoring a hattrick in the semi-final against Southampton and finishing as the competition’s top scorer.

In fact, Mubama excelled at youth level, scoring 13 goals from 20 appearances in last season’s PL2 campaign, which earned him his senior appearances.
The East London club prides itself on nurturing and developing academy players including the likes of Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick, and most recently Declan Rice who was sold to Arsenal for £105million.
Mubama can look to follow in the footsteps of these superstars, and he certainly has all the tools to reach the highest level of the game.
In other West Ham news, one Hammers player is in talks over a move to another Premier League club.
