West Ham United get £15m green light in Dwight McNeil chase

With Andriy Yarmolenko released at the end of his contract, West Ham United are in need of a new winger to replace the 32-year-old Ukrainian.

David Moyes has already identified a potential new wide attacker though and he could seek to take advantage of the recently relegated Burnley to get his man.

Dwight McNeil is the man on the manager’s summer shopping list with the Irons one of six Premier League sides to have enquired about the 22-year-old, according to 90min.

The Englishman was the Clarets’ creative force during his time at Turf Moor but their relegation from the Premier League is likely to see him leave Lancashire in this summer transfer window.

He could now be available for a bargain price however as Lancs Live reports that Burnley could be willing to accept an offer of just £15million for their biggest asset.

They need to make sales such as this one to balance the books after they dropped into the Championship so this is definitely a lot cheaper than he would have cost had they managed to survive last season.

If ever Moyes needed a sign that he can go full steam ahead for one of his summer transfer targets, this valuation should be it as the rest of the interested sides should be making similarly quick moves.

The chance to sign a young, English attacking player for just small a transfer fee very rarely comes around and with us required to build a squad that can comply with European registration rules, McNeil offers the perfect chance to sort out our problems in an instant.

It will be a tough race with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United also keen on the 22-year-old but if we move fast, no one will be able to stop us.

In other West Ham news, we have flat out rejected a Football League club’s approach for a player we have only seen for the senior team twice.
