West Ham United could miss out on transfer as Bayern Munich hold talks for Scott McTominay
West Ham could be set to miss out on one of their key transfer targets Scott McTominay, as Bayern Munich are now interested in signing him, according to Christian Falk.
The head of football at German news outlet BILD shared the news via his Twitter account, where he claimed the German giants had discussed a swap deal with Manchester United, with Ryan Gravenbech moving the other way.
West Ham had been weighing up making a second move for McTominay [The Telegraph, 23 August], whom David Moyes is a big fan of after their initial bid of £30million was rejected earlier in the transfer window.

Other positions are priorities
After making moves for Ajax midfielders Edson Alvarez and Mohammed Kudus, as well as James Ward-Prowse from Southampton, West Ham won’t feel too hard done by if they miss out on McTominay as well, especially if the move to Bayern materialises.
The Hammers have turned their attentions in the final week of the transfer window towards bringing in new additions up front, following the sale of Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta after a disappointing season in East London.
McTominay would have been a brilliant addition to the West Ham midfield, as he fits the profile of Moyes’ ideal midfielder, with his size and physicality able to cause problems and be effective in both boxes, while he is also homegrown.

The level of interest in his signature from Champions League clubs including Newcastle and Bayern should be a display of how good he really is, despite a seemingly negative general opinion among fans of both West Ham and Manchester United.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are ready to double the wages of their star player after a late transfer drive.
