West Ham United could launch Champions League bid if they sign Seko Fofana
West Ham United have qualified for European football in consecutive seasons now so the next logical step would be the Champions League.
Hammers manager David Moyes will be aiming for exactly that this season but it has been a very flat start to proceedings with defeats at home to Manchester City and away at Nottingham Forest.
But they have the chance to put all of that right when Brighton and Hove Albion come to the London Stadium on Sunday (21 August) and the Iron will have renewed confidence from their victory in the Europa Conference League on Thursday.

But it is going to take more than beating a Danish side to turn the 2022-23 season around and the final ingredient in the recipe could be purchasable from France.
According to BUT Football Club, West Ham are looking at RC Lens midfielder Seko Fofana after his performances in Ligue 1 impressed many on the continent.
The club are likely to ask for a similar transfer fee to that of Amadou Onana, who the Hammers missed out on to Premier League rivals Everton, so the cash is there to spend if Moyes wants to do so.

Even though Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek have been the main men in midfield for some time, they have equally not had much in the way of competition and that is exactly what Fofana would bring.
The Ivory Coast international would probably bump Soucek out of the side if he came in and performed to the level he has over in France and that might be the ideal scenario for West Ham with the Czech international uncertain over his future beyond this season.
Regardless of that, though, the Irons have to bring in a player of Champions League quality if they want to find themselves in the competition themselves rather than slumming it on Thursday nights.
