West Ham United can offer Amad Diallo dream opportunity as transfer news emerge

West Ham United are locked in a Premier League battle to sign Manchester United forward Amad Diallo but face an anxious wait on a key Old Trafford decision, according to 90Min.

The Ivorian forward endured a difficult spell in Manchester following his £37.2million move from Atalanta to Old Trafford in January 2021 [Sky Sports], followed by a rather disastrous six-month loan spell at Rangers under Giovanni van Bronckhorst during the 2021/22 campaign.

The Hammers have been previously linked with the talented forward, with a report from the Northern Echo on 4 June, revealing that the Irons are believed to be keen on signing the incredibly gifted 20-year-old winger to boost their attacking weaponry for next season.

90Min [15 June] now shares that Premier League newcomers Burnley have joined West Ham United, Everton and Fulham to sign the Old Trafford gem.

However, interested clubs will likely have to wait until after pre-season before knowing whether or not Diallo is going out on loan again.

Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag is keen to assess the player during their pre-season before making a decision on his short-term future at Old Trafford.

According to The Athletic [14 June], Manchester United plan to loan the forward to a Premier League club this season with the Red Devils feeling that the youngster would develop best in the top flight, having spent the last season on loan at Championship side Sunderland.

And given the qualities Diallo currently possesses, following his incredible year with the Black Cats last campaign, West Ham United will certainly be anxiously waiting to make their move. Certainly, Burnley, Fulham and Everton will all be desperate to make their move also, but the Hammers can offer Diallo a dream opportunity that none of their rivals on his tail can offer him next season.

Following their memorable and historic Europa Conference League triumph over Fiorentina on the 7 June, West Ham United will now be plying their trade in the Europa League next season which gives the East Londoners the advantage over their rivals when it comes to attracting hot properties around the continent.

And the 20-year-old Ivorian maestro now has the ideal platform to prove to Ten Hag and Manchester United that he’s got what it takes to compete at the top level.

Diallo, hailed as “Incredible” by his former Sunderland teammate Luke O’Nien, seems the perfect and arguably the most astute attacking reinforcement Everton could make for next season.

The 2022/23 campaign proved his eventual breakout season as he proved a Black Cat hero for Sunderland during their sensational Championship playoff exploits, scoring 14 goals and registering three assists from 39 games.

The 20-year-old ranked fifth in the Championship last season for goal-creating actions (20), seventh for successful take-ons (62), seventh for non-penalty goals (4.3) and 1st for goal-creating actions per 90 minutes [FBRef] showcasing he is now ready for a Premier League breakthrough next season.

Considering the potential battle for Diallo’s signature, this is a deal West Ham United must pursue this summer. Their European adventure next season certainly gives them the advantage in the race.
