West Ham to seal Axel Disasi signing as Nuno learns outcome of last-gasp bid

Axel Disasi could become a West Ham player before the January transfer window ends.

Disasi has been linked to West Ham this month, with a move seemingly on the cards after being exiled from the Chelsea squad this campaign.

The Frenchman has long been a target, and Disasi has been of interest to West Ham multiple times over the years.

The London Stadium faithful have been desperate to sign a defender, with Charlie Cresswell being a well-liked figure among West Ham fans.

Nuno Espirito Santo may be keen to get hold of Disasi as soon as possible after learning the outcome of a late winter bid.

The Hammers appear to be in desperate need of a centre-back before the window ends, but they are running out of time.

Multiple deals have already gone through, with the headline deals of Pablo and Taty Castellanos catching the eye in East London.

If the Irons could add to that with a defender, there would be plenty of positivity surrounding the claret and blue outfit moving forward.

Disasi looks to be a likely addition, but that hasn’t stopped West Ham from going after Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas reported on Friday that Southampton are likely to reject the latest bid from E20, with it said to be far away from their evaluation.

Nuno’s side are waiting to hear back from St Mary’s officially, with a reply yet to be formulated by the claret and blue outfit either.

Axel Disasi deal can now progress at West Ham

If the Irons are starting the bidding miles away from the asking price for Harwood-Bellis, it is unlikely they’re ever going to make a serious bid.

It feels like the most David Sullivan move ever that he will go back in for Disasi and once again go for the cheaper option.

That may frustrate fans, but in this case may prove to be wise based on the chasm of top-level experience between the two.

The Chelsea man could be the ideal man for the short-term future of West Ham, with avoiding relegation being the only hope this campaign.

Having failed in a move to sign Harwood-Bellis, it is now the time to push ahead and sign the 27-year-old from Stamford Bridge.
