‘West Ham to make Evan Ferguson deal permanent’ amid ‘bumper’ contract update

West Ham could be in line to make a swoop to sign Evan Ferguson permanently from Brighton ahead of the summer.

The Hammers brought in the Republic of Ireland international on an initial loan in the last window, but he has failed to make a positive impact.

This comes despite his prior link to Graham Potter at the Amex, where the 20-year-old was held in high esteem as one of the best young players in the Premier League.

Although that ability hasn’t been showcased at the London Stadium, a deal to sign him permanently could still be in the pipeline.

Ferguson sign for West Ham after contract development

The Irons are in desperate need of a prolific striker ahead of the new campaign, as Niclas Fullkrug has failed to find his feet in English football.

This has seen the English head coach in East London often utilise Jarrod Bowen as a makeshift striker, but he will be hopeful of that changing next campaign.

As a result, it is little surprise that the Hammers would be keen on a move to sign Fulham forward Rodrigo Muniz in the summer.

TBR Football reported interest from the London Stadium on 17 April as Potter’s side are sniffing around the striker’s signature.

With that being said, the Cottagers are now set to offer the Brazilian a “bumper new deal” to put off any side’s showing an interest in signing him this summer.

This could come as a blow to the recruitment team in East London and could prompt them into making a permanent swoop to sign Ferguson instead of the Craven Cottage ace.

West Ham in Muniz blow

There is no doubt that the 23-year-old could have represented a positive piece of business for the Hammers in their search for a striker.

The former Flamengo man has scored eight Premier League goals this campaign, one behind his tally from his true breakout year last time out.

As much as Potter and Co. would have wanted the Brazilian in the summer, it now appears that they have been scuppered in their efforts to sign Muniz.

This could open the door for Ferguson, who may become one of the main number nine targets at the London Stadium as a result of this news.
