West Ham United fans will laugh at what Marco Silva said after Fulham defeat

Marco Silva claimed that the best team lost on Wednesday night and West Ham fans will do well to hold in their laughter.

Graham Potter’s tenure as West Ham boss got off to an excellent start in the Premier League with a 3-2 victory against Fulham on 14 January.

Silva was said to be fuming with his players and his comments made after the game were cringeworthy and showed somewhat of a lack of respect towards the Irons.

Via The Athletic’s Roshane Thomas, the Fulham boss said: “The best team didn’t win the game. We created more chances.”

Such a meaningless comment to make that you’d imagine will have caused a few chuckles among the Irons faithful.

West Ham off to a flying start under Potter

The Hammers lost Potter’s first game in charge against Aston Villa in controversial circumstances, but the main focus will undoubtedly be on achieving something in the Premier League this season.

West Ham have certainly gone about things in the right way to ensure that remains a possibility and, if Irons can address some issues across the squad, Potter looks capable of being the man to spearhead that.

Although the stats from the game could suggest otherwise, the Hammers were deserving of their victory, showing a ruthless performance in front of goal with several key players missing.

The intensity was there in and out of possession and for the first time this season, you could see a clear plan in the way they were set up.

Ten points now separate United from the relegation zone, while only nine separate them from the top five. If this result was anything to by, the latter is certainly beginning to look the more likely.
