West Ham should break the bank for Franck Kessie

West Ham United have been linked with a move for Franck Kessie, the AC Milan midfielder who has been described as ‘extraordinary‘ in the past by Vincenzo Montella.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to the London Stadium since March [MilanLive] – and we feel he would be an incredible signing for a number of reasons.

The first is that with the Hammers playing Europa League football in the upcoming season, you would think they need more options in the centre of midfield.

Kessie is described as a box-to-box midfielder, and along with Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek, he would fit in perfectly in that midfield.

He could even be used to give one of those two a rest during a potentially relentless season for the Hammers.

In 184 AC Milan appearances, Kessie has also scored 30 goals and has been described as ‘devastating’ by Antonio Cassano [Bobo TV via MilanLive].

He has also been recently linked with a move to Arsenal [Gazzetta Dello Sport], but the Hammers need him more than the Gunners, who have several central midfield options.

West Ham

During the 2020/21 campaign, Kessie scored 13 goals, which would have made him West Ham’s top league goalscorer by three [WhoScored].

However, it is not just the attacking side of the game that he excels at as he also averaged 1.4 tackles and 1.2 interceptions per game, which would have ranked him in sixth place and joint-fifth place respectively in the Hammers’ squad [WhoScored].

The only problem for the Hammers could be Kessie’s price with Milan looking for 50m Euros (£43m) [MilanLive].

However, if they could overcome that or agree on a lower fee, Kessie should be the first name on David Moyes’ wishlist.
