West Ham selling player of Tomas Soucek quality to league rivals will be criminal

West Ham United are reportedly ready to listen to offers for their veteran midfielder Tomas Soucek, according to The Sun.

The 27-year-old has two years left on his deal and has been valued at around £40.50 million, according to Transfermarkt.

According to the report, the new contract discussions between the Hammers and Soucek were put on hold.

Because of this reason, the likes of Everton and Newcastle United are keeping an eye on the situation regarding Soucek and can make a move in the ongoing transfer window.

Soucek is one of the most important players in the West Ham roster. When everyone in the Premier League talks about how influential Declan Rice is to their midfield, the applause should be equally shared between him and the Czech Republic midfielder.

In the recently concluded season with West Ham, Soucek played 34 Premier League games, scoring five goals and providing one assist. He played 90% of the Premier League minutes and started 87% of the games under David Moyes [TransferMarkt].

West Ham

West Ham have made the midfield their priority for this summer. As Rice has an unclear future, Mark Noble has retired and Alex Krel has left on loan to Spartak Moscow, they cannot afford to have any more players potentially leaving the club, especially in the middle of the park.

Soucek has been a West Ham player ever since joining the club in the summer of 2020 from Slavia Prague in a deal worth £14.58 million.

This would be a criminal move from the Hammers, and it would be hard to see them forgiven if he moves on.
