West Ham receive ‘huge boost’ ahead of Newcastle United encounter

West Ham return to Premier League action on 10 March when they host Newcastle United at the London Stadium, and they may have just received a welcomed boost.

West Ham have had a mixed season so far; however, since the appointment of Graham Potter, things have started to improve slightly

A shock victory away to Arsenal was closely followed by a 2-0 win over Leicester City, with Newcastle United the next opponents, and West Ham may have just received a huge boost in their hopes of securing all three points

Of course, at this stage in the season, three points will do little in terms of the league table, but finishing the season in as good a run of form as possible will be crucial for the momentum they can take forward into the new campaign.

Newcastle Duo could miss West Ham clash

While West Ham have some injury concerns of their own, Newcastle have had several new availability concerns emerge as a result of their FA Cup defeat to Brighton.

Alexander Isak picked up a slight knock, while Anthony Gordon received his marching orders for a perceived moment of violent conduct when he appeared to shove Jan Paul van Hecke in the side of the head.

Of course, the duo have been two of the most, if not the most influential players at Newcastle this season, and should they be absent for the clash at the London Stadium, it would serve as a huge boost for West Ham in their pursuit of three points.

However, regardless of whether they are available or not, the Irons simply have to be at their best if they are to make it three wins on the bounce against the Magpies and if Isak and Gordon are absent, Potetr will have no excuse to leave the London Stadium to leave with anything less than three points.

West Ham need to build momentum

With two positive results in a row, some of the concerns that were voiced over Graham Potter have since been curtailed.

Their change in formation has seen several fringe players showcase their worth to the team, with Aaron Cresswell perhaps at the top of that list.

A five-back formation has improved the defensive solidity while returning the attacking quality that the Hammers possess on the counter-attack.

While Newcastle may be missing some of their key players, it is still likely to be a game that they dominate possession-wise, though West Ham should have more than enough to cause a threat in the game and come away with a result.
