West Ham next manager: PFA make Graham Potter announcement
West Ham United have been at the centre of attention in the Premier League for the last few days as Julen Lopetegui’s days at the London Stadium are beginning to look numbered.
The Hammers have had a below-par season so far and it feels like plenty more should be coming from Lopetegui’s men in terms of performances.
They currently sit 14th in the Premier League table and while there may still be a decent gap between themselves and the drop zone, a relegation scrap feels almost imminent, especially if the Spaniard is left in charge.
So, it’s not a surprise to see out-of-work manager Graham Potter being linked with the hot seat.
The former Brighton boss is on top of the list for David Sullivan in terms of Lopetegui successors but he’s already found himself a new role within the PFA Business School.
This was confirmed by their official X account (7 January) and would mean that, if he were hired by Sullivan, that he’d have to carry out both roles.
Why is Graham Potter the right man for West Ham United?
Of course, nothing is yet set in stone regarding the future of the Englishman with fellow Premier League club, Everton, also interested in acquiring his services.
In addition to other team’s interest, it seems that Potter’s camp have taken something of a U-turn in their demand and would now like a longer-term deal than the six months the Hammers were hoping to offer [The Times, 7 January].
At the moment, it’s unclear which team the former Chelsea boss would prefer to join but one thing is for sure, he’d almost certainly turn things around at either club.

However, with the attacking quality at the London Stadium as well as their recent European success, it feels like the Hammers should be his preferred destination.
Indeed, only time will tell what the future holds but, for now, the services of the 49-year-old are still up for grabs.
