West Ham ‘must stand firm’ as Juventus eye unwanted Aguerd deal
Juventus have expressed an interest in signing West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd.
As of right now, West Ham are yet to start their summer transfer business, though it isn’t expected to be long until there is some activity at the London Stadium.
After showcasing such a lack of form in the Premier League last season, the Hammers must recruit well, though making the right decisions on those already contracted to West Ham will be just as important.
Graham Potter’s side will be looking to raise funds to alleviate any potential PSR concerns. Therefore, their response to Juventus should be clear after a recent Aguerd update.

Juventus want cash-free Aguerd deal this summer
Aguerd enjoyed a successful loan at Real Sociedad last season, which will play into West Ham’s hands when it comes to trying to sell the defender this summer, though Juventus have slightly different plans.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio (20 June), the Italian giants are eying a deal for the Moroccan international, which would see Daniele Rugani move in the opposite direction.
Sociedad | Games | Tackles won | Duels won |
Aguerd | 21 | 24 | 115 |
Of course, West Ham paid £35million to sign Aguerd back in 2022, and will want to recoup some of that fee when offloading him. Therefore, this deal wouldn’t make sense.
Both parties involved in the deal are said to be evaluating it, but West Ham simply cannot afford to let Aguerd leave unless they bank a significant fee from doing so.

Potter needs to be backed
West Ham make the trip to Sunderland for the first time since 2016 when their Premier League campaign gets underway, and it is still entirely unclear as to how the Irons could line up for that clash.
Potter needs new additions, and the signing of a striker will inevitably be a priority in the coming weeks before pre-season gets underway.
After such a poor campaign, it is crucial that the Hammers recruit well this summer, and with Mohammed Kudus another player potentially on his way out, West Ham will certainly have their resolve tested.
