West Ham must be cautious of COVID-19 after Declan Rice pictured with Bukayo Saka
It’s been two full years since COVID-19 first came to ruin our lives and it could do so again for West Ham fans after what was shared on Twitter yesterday.
The coronavirus had shuffled to the back of people’s minds recently as life went back to normal but for the Hammers, it is now very much at the forefront.
Star player Declan Rice was pictured with Arsenal attacker Bukayo Saka at England training yesterday on the Three Lions’ official Twitter account.
But just a few hours after the post was made, the Gunners starlet was withdrawn from Gareth Southgate’s squad having tested positive for COVID-19.
If the same fate befalls Rice in the near future, he could well have to miss crucial West Ham games which may prove vital in their bid for success both domestically and in Europe this season.
David Moyes will be keeping an extremely close eye on Rice’s situation and he has to have a backup plan ready to go if the 23-year-old is forced to miss any games.
It isn’t just Rice who might be in danger of contracting the virus though with Hammers spread across the globe competing for their national teams.

Who knows what may travel back to the UK with footballers over this international period and it will be something that every Premier League manager is dreading happens to their club.
Thankfully, the vaccination process in the UK has been swift and effective which should protect those who have been jabbed from suffering too much although isolation will still need to be taken.
Let’s hope no such problems occur and we can enjoy the run-in to this fabulous West Ham season with no outside worries.
