West Ham make Graham Potter intentions clear as late transfer bid made
West Ham have been through a rollercoaster period of late after Julen Lopetegui was appointed as manager in the summer in the hope of improving the style of football being delivered by David Moyes.
However, this was not the case and the Spaniard struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League with the Hammers delivering inconsistent performances and underwhelming results, which led to his sacking.
With that in mind, supporters will be hoping that the appointment of Graham Potter at the London Stadium will provide a period of consistency in East London.
After plenty of money was spent in the summer transfer window, Potter has been limited with the moves he can make during the winter transfer window.
However, in the final days of proceedings, things have ramped up in East London and the arrival of Evan Ferguson will no doubt please many supporters.
The boss hasn’t stopped there with attacking signings though and Anthony Joseph reported (2 February) that the Irons have submitted a bid in the region of £500,000 for Celtic striker Daniel Cummings.
West Ham set for new era under Graham Potter
New managers are always going to bring their personal styles to football clubs which will be reflected in the signings they make.
Furthermore, with injuries to attacking players Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug, Potter had no choice but to look at reinforcements for the top end of the field before the 3 February transfer deadline – even though the former is almost back available and could feature against Chelsea.
However, the move for Cummings surely represents what the new era under Potter will be like at The London Stadium.
The 49-year-old is well known for his ability to work wonders with young players and has already shown his commitment to using young talent at West Ham with Oliver Scarles getting increased chances at a first-team level.

With that in mind, making a move for an 18-year-old striker, while also bringing in Ferguson shows that the manager clearly has his sights set on the future too.
Ferguson is clearly going to be one to solve pressing issues for the Irons from the get-go while Cummings is likely a signing with a long-term vision in mind.
However, it does suggest that supporters in East London can prepare themselves to see plenty of young talent being developed in Claret and Blue over the coming period under their new boss.
In other West Ham news, a bid has been submitted for another striker at another British club.
