West Ham January transfer could rest on Julen Lopetegui decision
Julen Lopetegui has struggled to get going at West Ham since his arrival as manager in the summer.
The Hammers have been characterised by inconsistency this term and despite some decent results along the way, Lopetegui’s side often struggles to back these up.
In addition to this, the Irons have failed to establish a clear style of football throughout the campaign so far leaving many supporters fed up with the boss.
A 5-0 thrashing against Liverpool has led to questions surrounding the Spaniard’s future at The London Stadium and with the January transfer window approaching, David Sullivan has decisions to make.
The Hammers chief has opted to stick by his appointment so far but given his side’s season could depend on the business done in the transfer window, Sullivan has to feel confident about the decision he makes.
Not least because the person in charge could also have an impact on the business his side are able to do.
James McAtee transfer to West Ham could rest on Julen Lopetegui decision
And one piece of business that the Hammers have been linked to is a move for Manchester City attacking midfielder James McAtee.
West Ham have been credited with interest in the 22-year-old [The Telegraph] ahead of the transfer window as the Irons look to improve their fortunes in the second half of the season.
The young player is a highly rated prospect and reportedly frustrated by his lack of game time at the Etihad Stadium, meaning he may well be willing to make a move in search of regular minutes in the New Year.
That being said, the Irons will be facing a battle if they want to secure the player’s services with Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle United also some of the names that are said to be interested (The Daily Mail).
With this in mind, Lopetegui’s future at the club could shape a decision made by McAtee over his future.

The 22-year-old has shown he is a strong technical player and therefore, the current West Ham side may not suit his needs with Lopetegui looking like he lacks ideas tactically meaning it could be a hard place to flourish in.
That being said, if Sullivan makes the call to change the boss in East London this could change everything with Graham Potter said to be lined-up as a replacement.
Potter proved at Brighton his ability to work with young players and improve their technical game which would surely make the move suddenly a lot more of an attractive one.
