West Ham hold Joshua Zirkzee transfer advantage as agent’s January intentions emerge

West Ham appear to hold all the cards when it comes to the race for Joshua Zirkzee’s signature in the January transfer window.

The Hammers have been linked with several possible options to help bolster their forward line and pull them away from the Premier League drop zone.

Zirkzee is among those in West Ham’s sights of late, and it has now become clear that they hold a crucial advantage over the other interested parties as they try and secure his signature in January.

Nuno Espirito Santo looks set to lose Niclas Fullkrug this winter, but he may already have his replacement within reach if Zirkzee’s agent gets his way.

Joshua Zirkzee’s agent wants Premier League move

West Ham’s pursuit of Zirkzee seemingly appeals to Manchester United as much as it does in E20.

The Red Devils added plenty of attacking options to their ranks in the summer, and that has forced the Dutchman even further down the pecking order after a poor debut campaign last time out.

The frontman hasn’t started a single game in the league so far in 2025-26, and as a result, he wants to leave “as soon as possible,” according to Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Roma are understood to be keen to bring Zirkzee back to Serie A, but the intentions of his agent Kia Joorabchian appear set to play perfectly into the hands of West Ham instead.

Joorabchian is keen to ensure that his client remains in the Premier League, which seemingly hands David Sullivan and Co. a significant advantage in the race, as they are believed to be the only interested party in England at the moment.

The East Londoners could comfortably afford a potential deal, and while Zirkzee is more enamoured by the idea of a return to Italy, this move could easily become another tale of agent power.

On this occasion, West Ham will be desperately hoping that it does, because the cards appear likely to fall in their favour if so.

Joshua Zirkzee deal to repeat old errors at West Ham

Fullkrug has had virtually no impact at West Ham since he joined for £27million in the summer of 2024, and he has become the latest in a long line of failed striker signings in E20.

The Irons have had a woeful record when it comes to bringing in frontmen, and they have regularly ended up with veterans who are either past their best, or are constantly blighted with injuries.

Zirkzee is certainly a more youthful option than the likes of Fullkrug and Callum Wilson, but he is yet to show any indication that he is at the required level to score goals in the Premier League.

His signing would certainly be a gamble for West Ham, and they have had far too many of them not pay off in recent years.
