West Ham have Declan Rice 2.0 already after MOTM display yesterday

The upcoming summer transfer window could be the most important in recent years for West Ham with big changes on the horizon.

Most notably, reports are circulating around Declan Rice’s future at the club with the 23-year-old having rejected two contract offers from the club [Telegraph].

David Moyes might be tossing in his sleep at the thought of not having Rice as his rock in the midfield but maybe he has the answer under his nose already.

West Ham

Out on loan at League One club Milton Keynes Dons right now is 21-year-old Conor Coventry and he is making a name for himself at the third tier.

The Irishman put in a man of the match display for the Dons last night as they beat Charlton Athletic 2-0 at The Valley.

Fans on social media couldn’t get enough of Coventry’s individual brilliance as they keep their own promotion push on track.

The 21-year-old covered nearly 12km throughout the 90 minutes, winning every duel he contested and topping it all off with a brilliant assist for the opening goal.

Other than three EFL Cup appearances, though, he has not featured for the Hammers’ first team and now is the time for him to be given a chance.

If he isn’t going to be given even substitute appearances at the London Stadium next season, he has to be sold for the good of his own career.

But Moyes has to put his trust in Coventry next season, especially if Rice is no longer at the club and the Irishman will pay him back and then some.

His seemingly unlimited engine is exactly what West Ham need in the midfield alongside the similarly relentless Tomas Soucek and it could allow the club to invest in other, more crucial areas.
