West Ham given Ivan Toney transfer answer as director makes new admission

Ivan Toney’s desired return to England has taken a huge blow amid rumours over a potential move to West Ham.

Toney has been linked with a move to West Ham, and his style of play would be exactly what Nuno Espirito Santo would want.

Having been Brentford’s talisman for over three years, Toney spearheaded their return to the Premier League in 2020-21 before going on to net 38 top-flight goals for the Bees.

However, news has emerged that Toney will stay at Al-Ahli as the club’s director has insisted he will not be leaving in Saudi Arabia in January.

Ivan Toney’s move to West Ham ruled out by Al-Ahli director

West Ham are in desperate need of a striker to drag them out of the relegation battle, and Toney would have been a perfect fit.

However, the potential transfer has been completely ruled out by Al-Ahli director Rui Pedro Baz.

He said: “Ivan Toney is a top player, a top striker. The rumours around his possible exit in January are not based on reality.

“It’s just not true. We’re counting on him; it makes zero sense to address this subject in November.”

It was pretty inevitable that West Ham weren’t realistically going to sign him, and they’re history of striker signings in the last decade has been far from impressive.

Goals have been hard to come by for Nuno’s side, although six goals in the last two matches has shown that with Callum Wilson in the starting lineup, they are more than capable of avoiding relegation.

The 33-year-old has an abundance of Premier League experience, and he could prove himself to be invaluable to West Ham’s survival chances.

With Niclas Fullkrug out injured for the foreseeable future, the fate of West Ham’s Premier League status could come down to Wilson.

Callum Wilson has perfect chance to stamp authority on West Ham

Wilson was finally trusted by Nuno against Newcastle, and he scored his second goal of the season against Burnley at the London Stadium.

Having registered 112 goal contributions in the top flight, Wilson is no stranger to digging his team out of trouble, and he did this excellently at both Bournemouth and Newcastle.

Nuno turned Chris Wood and Raul Jimenez into brilliant forwards in the Premier League, and Wilson does have the quality to showcase his brilliance up front.

It’s up to him to prove that he still has a lot more to give at this level for the Hammers.
