West Ham gem in Nuno’s thoughts for Bournemouth after latest England call-up
Nuno Espirito Santo may now decide to play West Ham’s Fin Herrick against Bournemouth on Saturday after recent developments.
West Ham decided to recall Herrick from Boreham Wood despite him progressing very well for the National League side.
The move showcases that Nuno may not trust Alphonse Aroela and Mads Hermansen, as there was no other reason to cut Herrick’s deal short.
Hermansen could miss the game against Bournemouth through illness, which leaves Nuno with a big decision to make.
However, with the latest developments on Herrick, his choice may have just been made a little easier.

Fin Herrick called up to England’s U21s
Herrick is only 19 years old but has already established himself as one of the brightest prospects at Rush Green.
Nuno has put his trust in Freddie Potts, another youth gem for the Hammers, with Herrick now in pole position to be next.
England’s official X account shared an update on the Irons ‘keeper, which announced that Herrick had been called up to England’s under-21s squad
- England U21s play Slovakia on Tuesday
- Herrick has played at both U20 and U19 level for England in the past
- He is yet to make his senior West Ham debut
Herrick was called up to replace Manchester United’s Elyh Harrison who misses out due to a suspected injury.
Whether he starts or not, Herrick will be in Nuno’s thoughts for more than one reason heading into the clash at the Vitality Stadium.
Nuno Espirito Santo needs to give Herrick his chance
Nuno has seen what’s happened when he’s shown faith in West Ham youngsters already, and there’s no reason why Herrick shouldn’t be next.
Areola has been a good servant for the Irons, but age has caught up to the Frenchman, with a reflection of that seen in recent performances.
Herrick will have a point to prove, and unless the Hammers are eyeing a replacement for Hermansen or Areola in January, then the youngster should get at least one start.
He would be thrown in at the deep end, but we’ve seen superstars develop that way at the London Stadium over the years.
Herrick truly has a chance to start against the Cherries.
