West Ham fans will love what Mick McCarthy has just said about their Premier League survival hopes
Mick McCarthy will be a very popular man among West Ham fans as he continues to back the Hammers in the Premier League.
The Irons are currently embroiled in a fight to stay in the Premier League, and they inched ever so slightly closer to coming out of the drop zone this past weekend.
While they only managed a draw against Bournemouth at the London Stadium, both Tottenham and Nottingham Forest fell to defeat.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are now only two points behind the Tricky Trees, and their recent form will provide them with plenty of hope in the coming weeks.
Now, McCarthy’s latest comments have added to that hope, especially coming from an experienced relegation battler such as the former manager.

Mick McCarthy drops West Ham relegation verdict
West Ham’s position in the table is not ideal, but McCarthy has hope that the Hammers can make their way out of the relegation zone before the end of the season.
Speaking on his podcast, The Managers, with Tony Pulis, the former Wolves boss has been speaking about the fight to stay up.
McCarthy said: “I think West Ham have a chance of catching them.
“It’s up to the bottle of West Ham and Tottenham. Nottingham Forest, maybe.”
Right now, the Hammers are showing plenty of that resolve McCarthy speaks of, picking up 11 points from a possible 18 in their last six games.
If Nuno can keep that form up, then the Irons have every chance of maintaining their Premier League status, although the next month will be crucial.
West Ham must not lose ground over the next month
West Ham do not have favourable fixtures over the coming weeks, and they must not fall too far behind the rest of the relegation pack.
In the next four games, the E20 outfit face off against four sides currently within the top 10. Fixtures against Liverpool, Fulham, Aston Villa and Manchester City all pose a threat of Nuno’s men going winless.
The Portuguese manager has shown he can compete against teams in the upper half of the table, as they pushed Chelsea close and picked up a point against Manchester United recently.
Over those aforementioned upcoming matches, West Ham must do the same and pick up as many points as they can.
If they fail to cause some upsets, and Forest and Spurs pick up points elsewhere, they could end up falling too far behind.
