West Ham fans will find Niclas Fullkrug’s latest comments at AC Milan absolutely hilarious

Niclas Fullkrug has spoken his first words as an AC Milan player.

Having once again struggled at West Ham during the first half of this season, Fullkrug has signed for AC Milan on loan with the option for the Italian giants to make the deal permanent.

Fullkrug signed for West Ham in the summer of 2024 from Borussia Dortmund, and expectations for him were high at the London Stadium given he’d just banked a 15-goal and 11-assist campaign for the German outfit.

However, his time with the Hammers has been a huge disappointment, and his zero goals or assists in eight Premier League games this term helped pile the pressure on Nuno Espirito Santo.

Niclas Fullkrug’s AC Milan vow will have West Ham fans laughing

It was revealed that Fullkrug will wear the number nine shirt for AC Milan, as he looks to help fire Massimiliano Allegri’s side to the Serie A title over their bitter rivals Inter.

And speaking in his first press conference as a Milan player via Pazzi Di Fanta, the 32-year-old has made it clear why he’s wearing that number.

“Number nine? It means scoring goals,” Fullkrug said.

“It’s synonymous with goals. I’ve only used it with the German national team. I don’t have any particular idols. I know about the number 9’s past at Milan and I hope to live up to it.”

Given Fullkrug scored just three goals in 29 total appearances for West Ham, it’s safe to say that many Hammers fans will have had a slight chuckle at that.

Fullkrug has ideal chance to back his words up at AC Milan

But, in AC Milan, Fullkrug is going to a club that should provide him with an excellent opportunity to prove his words to be truthful.

Since Allegri took charge in May of last year, Milan have almost exclusively played in a 3-5-2 formation, and are currently the second-highest scorers in Serie A outside of Inter (40) with 29 goals in 18 games.

Milan played their last game against Genoa on Thursday with Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic as the front two, but both of those players are wingers by trade, with Santiago Gimenez and Christopher Nkunku both out injured at the moment.

Therefore, Fullkrug should soon see some starting opportunities in Allegri’s system, having made two substitute appearances so far without any goals or assists to show for it.
