‘Please retire’ – These West Ham fans slam ‘useless’ player v Leicester

West Ham continue to hang by a thread under Manuel Pellegrini.

The Hammers are one point above the drop zone after 18 matches after losing again to Leicester City on Saturday night.

They do have a game in hand, of course, but that is against Liverpool, and on current form it would take a miracle for them to get anything out of that clash.

There were brief spells on Saturday when it looked like they might steal something against the Foxes, but for the most part, this was the same rinse and repeat disappointment that has haunted them all season.

And one man who looked completely off the pace was Arthur Masuaku.

The full-back has never been the most reliable defender, but he showed his weaknesses again in an outing that was largely indecisive and shaky.

The Foxes’ opening goal came about after he dilly-dallied in possession, and you have to wonder how much longer he can keep on convincing Manuel Pellegrini of his worth as an out and out defender.

Granted, he made seven tackles on Saturday, as per Whoscored, but there’s still an air of uncertainty that plagues him, and until he can shake that off, then he needs to either be dropped or repurposed.

Perhaps he could function as a wing-back, or even a winger, but he cannot be trusted as a left-back.
