West Ham fans given something to smile about as official announcement made
West Ham United supporters have been offered something to smile about at last after the club confirmed Lukasz Fabianski has been nominated for the Premier League Save of the Month award for November.
The 39-year-old has been put forward for the award after his “out of this world” save to deny Ramon Sosa in the 3-0 loss against Nottingham Forest on 2 November.
Julen Lopetegui is living on borrowed time in East London after the 3-1 loss against Leicester City on Tuesday [3 November] as his inevitable departure teeters towards becoming a reality.
However, Fabianski is one of few Hammers players who can hold their heads high after another earth-shattering defeat at the King Power Stadium, and his nomination for the Save of the Month award is a small commemoration of his efforts this year.
Time is up for Julen Lopetegui at West Ham United
It is indeed dark times in East London when a Premier League monthly award can be seen as the only highlight of the players’ displays this season.
The Hammers looked to have reached a turning point in November after the impressive 2-0 win against Newcastle United at St James’ Park, but were brought right back down to Earth with the humiliating 5-2 defeat against Arsenal.
Then came the equally damaging loss against fellow strugglers Leicester City in midweek.
Even in the match in question against Nottingham Forest, Fabianski single-handedly ensured the result flattered to deceive for West Ham.
Lopetegui is expected to be in the dugout for the clash against Wolves at the London Stadium on Monday [9 December] in what could be his final match in charge for the Irons – but how many times has that question been asked this season?

No matter how blatantly obvious the Spaniard cannot overturn his fortunes in East London, he is allowed to persist in this never-ending charade.
West Ham are lucky the sides in the relegation zone continue to drop points heading into the New Year, and while relegation remains a slim possibility after the turbulent spending spree conducted throughout the summer, the Hammers should be nowhere near the bottom half of the table.
Alas, this is the position the Irons find themselves in and will remain in until Lopetegui is removed from the helm; regardless of the result on Monday, David Sullivan cannot delay the inevitable for much longer.
In other West Ham news, a Gary O’Neil sack decision has been made as sources share a new fear ahead of the Hammers’ clash against Wolves.
