West Ham disgrace themselves with ongoing Tomas Soucek contract saga

Contract talks between West Ham and the Czech Republic international Tomas Soucek have reached an “impasse”, according to the latest reports by The Guardian.

Despite there being “hope” from both parties that an agreement will be made but it has since been reported by Claret & Hugh that the 27-year-old will be moved on to make room for potential additions to the midfield in the summer which is a disgrace.

The news comes as David Moyes and co turn their interest to Southampton skipper James Ward-Prowse to bolster their ranks in the summer.

Soucek doesn’t deserve this treatment and the fact that the Irons are willing to shun one of their own to bring seemingly more attractive players is horrible.

The grass isn’t greener.

Soucek came in and played one of the best debut seasons seen for quite some time at the club – good enough to win him Hammer of the Year.

This season has seen him play a considerably different role, one that sees him sacrifice all of the things that saw him shine last campaign for the team.

A catalogue of issues have presented themselves during negotiations for a new deal for the midfielder but the worst of the lot is the Hammers reportedly not willing to meet his £80,000 per week wage request.

It is likely to cost them a hell of a lot more to sign and pay a player who will have the same impact on this squad than Soucek – are they really that tight that they can’t fork over a little bit more in wages that they risk losing the stalwart?

The disrespect Soucek has been shown by the Irons is unbelievable and it needs to be sorted out as soon as possible before the seemingly never-ending negotiations are brought to an irreversible halt. It wouldn’t surprise me if Soucek wanted to leave at the end of his contract now after the blatant disrespect he has been shown.
